Set with 'Blusoak', an irrigation hose that drips along its entire length after it has been automatically filled by the drip Blumat when dry. This allows rows of plants to be watered over their entire surface without any gaps.
Prerequisite for operation:
- Connection via elevated tank with a height difference of at least 150 cm,
- Also connection to tap with pressure reducer 0.5 bar (accessory)
- For details see Further conditions
Contents
- 2 m BluSoak Hose
- 2 Tropf-Blumat, without drip tubing and T-branch connector
- 2 m drip tubing
- 2 T-branch connector 8-3-8 mm
- 2 End piece 8-3 mm
- 4 BluSoak-Connector 8 mm
- 4 Elbow Connector 8-8 mm
- 2 End cap 8 mm
- 2 End cap 3 mm (for control point)
- 2 Mini-Abzweiger (for control point)
- 6 Connector 3,3 cm
- 7 m Water supply tubing black
- 1 tank connection
Set is sufficient for
- 2 strands, each 1 m long for corresponding plant rows (cut BluSoak to size), connected as 2 individual strands, which are supplied on one side and controlled separately via a drip Blumat each and checked via the control point,
- 1 line with the entire length, also supplied on one side and controlled via a drip blower and checked via control point.
BluSoak strands are connected to an existing drip blumat system with high tank supply, ensuring sufficient pressure of 150 cm (130 cm) water column. The connection to the tap requires the separate 0.5 bar pressure reducer.
Function
The BluSoak works as a 'soaker hose', it is filled with moderate pressure from the Tropf-Blumat at the onset of dryness, the contents of the hose seep slowly through the paper-like, porous wall, the Tropf-Blumat stops the water supply when there is sufficient moisture. The supply pressure should be in the range of 130 - 500 cm water column (0.13 - 0.5 bar).
The length of the line is limited because the Tropf-Blumat cannot supply water fast enough for long lengths via the 3 mm drip hose. The recommended maximum length is 4 - 5 metres. Long strands should be filled from both sides if possible and the Tropf-Blumat should always measure the moisture in the centre of the strand. The BluSoak strands should always be laid flat in the ground.
Usage
The BluSoak set is well suited for row planting of vegetables and herbs with a plant spacing of less than 20 (25) cm with a typical location on the raised bed or in the balcony box or small beds. It is therefore an alternative set to raised bed rows with distribution plugs - a comparison shows the differences:
Soakaway hose BluSoak | Raised bed row with distribution dropper |
---|---|
Row irrigation | Row irrigation |
Water discharge without gaps over the entire surface | Water discharge selectively |
only pressure-reduced | with full floral print, also for high tank |
Higher water consumption | More economical consumption |
Manual function check via checkpoint or measurement | Control of individual drippers possible |
maintenance-free | Cleaning the distribution dripper |
Little visible, hoses normally covered | Visible, superficial assembly |
little variable, no extension | Variable conversion possible |
maximum length approx. 5 m | Maximum length approx. 10 distribution droppers |
Saving of drip blumate | Saving of drip blumate |
Further conditions:
- Minimum pressure is approx. 130-150 cm water column (0.13-0.15 bar) - ideal for tank supply.
- Maximum pressure approx. 0.5 bar - the standard pressure for the drip blumat system of 1 bar is usually too high, the hose could tear (it must not be hard during operation!). A pressure reducer with a setting of 0.5 bar is available especially for the BluSoak. This can also be used for the entire drip blumat system.
- The hose should always be embedded in the ground, in a gap approx. 4 - 5 cm deep and 1-2 cm wide, so that the seam points upwards. It can also be covered with mulch material to protect it from sunlight.
- The bed surface should be as horizontal as possible or the gradient should not exceed 1%, otherwise the distribution of moisture will be uneven.
